I have a very cynic view of Damon and Elena (together and separate), so idk how enjoyable it'll be for someone who loves the pairing, but I'll try to do it justice!
Personally, I think there would be a marriage because, well, I believe by that point the sunk-cost was too high for Elena. All she'd lost and gone through in the second half of the show, the things she had done herself... if Damon and her are not IT, if he's not ~the one~, what was it all for? Does she throw it away or does she cling to the idea that Damon's agency was compromised? etc. etc.
