Mia’s future went from a fragile baby bird with marred wings to a soaring winged figure casting a large shadow in the open skies when she stood up to Richard and, with help from a few friends, clawed back a life for herself; one simple blood analysis cruelly interrupted that heady feeling– despite reassurances, despite talks about treatment.

She exists now firmly grounded to a vibrant, prized present, but she won’t let her future turn once again into an easily shattered thing. More than anything, Mia wants whatever time she has left, however long or short it gets, to matter.
