SNOWFLAKE CHALLENGE #10: FIVE BY FIVE

Five Things! The five things are totally up to you. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

In one of these challenges I asked people to send me questions about my top fives, whatever they'd wanted.

This time I want to ask one myself: what are your top 5 female characters?

They can be from anywhere: books, films, shows, an OC you've created and nurtured for years... go nuts.

To break the ice, I'm gonna go with five female characters from my own original stories, Just Because. Not necessarily a definite Top 5 (I love them all, your honour), but a Top 5 RIGHT NOW :P
 

1. Captain Latoya. She is and probably will always be number one in my heart. Space pirate, alien-human hybrid, daughter and grandaughter of tyrants. Arrogant, idealistic, ruthless, sharp, brave. A killer, a history savant, a natural performer and a hopeless romantic.
2. Lady Vela. Years ago Vela requested the fairies' aid to free herself from the monsters raising her at home. Now, the fairies want to collect the debt. Vela is a young woman of deep, hidden melancholy with a trickster streak of her own, with a very tragic past and little hope for the future.
3. Sadie Maxwell-Arriaga. A young, self-trained witch of immense natural talent, in love with magic above all things. Scrappy, greedy, kind, risk-prone, of easy-going manners broken occasionally by righteous anger. And murder suspect!
4. Fanny. Seductive, deciteful femme fatala playing opposite to Giulietta, a lovelorn private investigator, both human woman (with a few extrasensory talents, in Giulietta's case) navigating a noir city of supernatural creatures. More than meets the eye 😉
5. Imperatrix Lucretia. Visionary (or dictatorial, depending on who you ask) thrice elected leader of an underground society where vampires rule humans in exchange of protection from the outside world. Lucretia rose from the lowest depths of her society to the very top, fighting for her vision. She's calculating, paranoid, and pitiless, and would die before relinquishing power.

And I like you used your own OCs, especially with the added images. I enjoyed reading about them all.

Oh, I love this idea! This is a list that I’m definitely going to struggle with; there are too many wonderful ladies, so I’ll just stick with one per media.

In no particular order, some of my favorite female characters:

1. Tara Markov - DC Comics. My best gal, my ultimate fave— I love her so much. She’s intended as a one-note traitor, but the picture her actions paint is one of fear, repression, and a desire to be loved that really resonates with me.

2. Elizabeth Midford - Black Butler. She deserves so much better than the treatment she got from the fandom back when I was more involved with it; I’ve always thought she was really fun and fascinating.

3. Ada Wong - Resident Evil. Have I ever actually played RE? No. But I’ve watched my sibling play, and I think Ada is such a wonderful character. Love a woman whose morals are greyer than… I dunno, something really grey, this turn of phrase fell apart. XD

4. Rogue - X-Men. Where would this list be without my first crush? She’s always really resonated with me (and the white streak is gorgeous).

5. Omera - The Mandalorian. For a character we see so little of compared to most, she really grabbed onto my heart and refused to let it go. I’m absolutely desperate to know more about her, but I doubt it’ll happen at this rate… ah, well, that’s what fanfic is for.

Of these I'm only familiar with Tara and Rogue, but good choices!

And yeah, trying to make her so one-note really backfires for me because it only drives me to try to make *sense* of her, iykwim.

Of those I've only watched some random episodes of X-Files, and I do want to watch Birds of Prey at some point. But it looks like a great list ^-^

Here from Snowflake (all the lists everyone is making are great). I don't get nearly enough opportunity to talk about my favorite female characters, so thanks for asking! It's tough to pick just five, though!

1. Scully from the X-Files, 2. Parker from Leverage, 3. Jordan Cavanaugh from Crossing Jordan, 4. Michael Burnham from Star Trek Discovery, 5. Beth Turner from Moonlight (TV 2007).

All your characters sound awesome and I like the added pics. The eyes on the first one is so cool and the character in the third really caught my eye. :D

My top 5 female characters are probably: 1) Lois Lane - DC (and especially the Smallville version) 2) Elizabeth Bennet - Pride & Prejudice 3) Princess Leia - Star Wars 4) Josephine March - Little Women 5) Rory Gilmore - Gilmore Girls

Latoya and Sadie are two of my oldest OCs and the protagonists of my WIP series. Probably my two favourite characters I've created, so I'm happy to hear people are curious about them :D

Those are all gr10 characters! (and for once, I know them all lol).

Where do I sign up to read about those beautiful women?? Your picrew for Sadie in particular is gorgeous and Lucretia can bleed me dry anytime :p They each have their own personality with intriguing universes to live in, I'm hooked!

Thank you! FWIW, this month (likely at the end of this week) I plan to publish a little short story that gets a bit into Lucretia & the backstory with her antagonist, Dana. It'll be in my newsletter in substack, but I'll probably post about it here ^-^

Thank you! I often do everything I can to differentiate them in looks when I describe them, especially because for some reason a veeeery high percentage of my OCs end up brunette xD. This picrew has some limited variety (there are no other noses available, and Latoya has a hawk nose, for example!), but it's so, so pretty that I often go back to it *-*

I only know Katara in that list, but I'm sure they're all great characters :D
