I commented in the post Godzilla vs Thor about a story where Big G took out the Greek Pantheon, It was one issue in a 2016 anthology series about two archaeologists tracking suspected Godzilla appearances across history.

The Greek gods have grown complacent and apathetic. The prayers and worship of mortals fall on deaf ears, and miracles happen less and less. There's a divide between the gods that want to serve and Zeus who views the mortals with contempt. A lot of the gods' power comes from worship; the good gods worry that if they don't pull their weight, their religions will vanish and they'll grow weak. Zeus sees faith as obligatory for the mortals and they'll reign forever.

Poseiden alone answers the prayers of sailors in the battle after Zeus refuses Aphrodite's wish for them to appear in a show of support. He is caught by surprise by Big G and tries to fend him off while Zeus refuses the call to action. Fed up with sacrificing and laboring to silence and suffering disaster, the humans destroy their temples. Poseidon dies.

Godzilla appears at Mount Olympus and starts wrecking #$@! The gods assume Big G is a Titan or the creation of one of their pantheon making a power play, The gods are not at their strongest and start falling to Gidzilla, Zeus calls forth the Hydra to buy time.

Now the sole remaining god, Zeus battles desperately with Godzilla feeling his power waning with the lack of faith from the people. He puts all of his power into a final, DBZ-esque show of power that buries Godzilla in the earth.

His powers gone save for being immortal, Zeus is humbled and lives as a mortal with a fresh perspective. He plans to reconnect with the mortals and rebuild the pantheon better than it was before! But Godzilla has opinions about that...

Author's Note: This universe has been built from the ground up with many influences of pop culture and history. It was began in 2005. I posted the last main part of the story in 2023. There is a prequel and sequel both forming in my plans for the future. When I began crafting it... we were not so far down the fascism slide in real life. I very nearly did not touch it again after 2016. Ultimately though, I needed to let the good guys win.

I've finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33!

( Spoilers up to the end of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. )

Overall verdict: what a game! The concept is interesting, the scenery is gorgeous, the battle system is fun and the soundtrack is absolutely extraordinary. I don't think it's a perfect game, but I think it comes very close.
